Since Colorado has some of the most widespread and highest levels of Radon in the United States, many architects are specifically requiring the installation of systems from the ground up in New Construction.  ACE specializes in working with architects, builders, and homeowners regarding the design, specifications and installation of “State-of-the-Art” radon systems using the best materials available in the industry.

The design of Passive or Active systems include the under-slab soil gas collection network, vapor barriers, full perimeter and penetration seal of all slab areas, full vapor barrier seal of gravel/dirt crawlspace areas, internal passive or active vent stacks in interior chases and fan locations all specified to meet safe protocols.

Although installing a radon system during construction is usually more expensive than post construction installations, there are several significant advantages to new construction radon systems that save money in the long term.

Energy Efficiency

A new construction radon system is very energy efficient and negates the impact of any increased energy costs in the structure by having a depressurization fan that runs 24/7.  In some post construction installations it can sometimes be very difficult to seal all areas and assure conditioned air is not being extracted from the structure.

Lowest Possible Radon Levels

When all stages of the installation are completed by our NEHA Certified Mitigators, the structure will have the lowest possible post mitigation radon levels.  Optimization of airflow and an excellent pressure field extension under the structure are guaranteed when installed correctly during construction.

Internal Hidden Piping

The vent pipe and fans can be installed internally, effectively hiding the radon system, minimizing the aesthetic impact to the structure, and optimizing its resale value.  Also,  an internal passive vent stack sets an optimal condition of producing a thermal stack effect, possibly eliminating the need of activating the system with a fan that draws about 100 watts 24/7.  If the vent stack can remain passive this optimization of airflow and excellent pressure field extension under the structure are guaranteed when installed during construction.  This can save approximately $10 a month on energy costs for the life of the structure and the upfront cost of the fan.
